About Us

The Greater N. Atlanta Homebirth Meetup and The Metro Atlanta Pregnancy Meetup are working hard to grow awareness and support for  Mother and Baby friendly practices and option's in and around Atlanta, GA.

This is a independently produced fundraising and awareness-raising event, to provide education, encouragement, empowerment, resources and awareness of options to expecting or soon to be expecting woman and families in the Atlanta and surrounding Metro area's as well as to celebrate the woman that are bringing forth the next generation.  Proceeds will be donated to  organizations in the Atlanta area that support and are dedicated to helping make birth safer, support the Mother Friendly Childbirth initiative and work tirelessly in providing evidence based information, support, encouragement and education to expecting woman and families in our community.

Proceeds to go to Georgia Friends Of Midwives and International  Caesarian Awareness Network of Atlanta

We are in support of the many organizations in GA as well as all over the US and World, that are in support of raising awareness, options and safety in maternity care and childbirth.

What does the BOLD acronym stand for?

Originally the name BOLD came from “Birth On Labor Day.” In 2006 playwright Karen Brody founded Birth On Labor Day, allowing her critically acclaimed play, Birth, to be performed in communities throughout the world over four days during the American Labor Day for free to raise money and awareness about maternity care. Brody was astounded by the response to her “BOLD call to action.” In those 4 days more than forty performances of the play took place raising over $10,000 for organizations working to make maternity care mother-friendly. Today BOLD events – performances and BOLD Red Tents – are possible to do throughout the year.

Who We Are

The Greater Atlanta Homebirth and The Metro Atlanta Pregnancy Meetup  along with Georgia friends of Midwives and ICAN of Atlanta are working together to inform, educate, inform, support and provide resources to Atlanta, GA and surrounding community. Part of this support is for the woman and families that are looking for such and part of the support is in supporting other local organizations that are striving for the same and stand behind as well as support and follow the Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiative.   We are working hard to raise awareness and support of these organizations while also encouraging and supporting woman and families options for safe care and informed choice.

One way we can do this is to hold events such as BOLD Atlanta 09.

Everyone working on BOLD Events Atlanta 2009 are unpaid volunteers helping to make this event a community bridging, educational, supportive, resourceful event to raise awareness and funds for other non- profit organizations in the community, that are also working hard to do the same and are in support of the Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiatives.

This event is coming together as an act of love and concern over healthcare and safety and consumer based informed consent in birth.

All funds will be donated to a Local Non-profit organizations compassionate about making pregnancy and birth safer for Mothers and babies.

You can find more information on the Non profit groups that will benefit from this event on our who will benefit page.

** Please be in support of education, safety, informed consent and awareness in the community by being a part of this BOLD Atlanta 2009 event!
